TPMS INTERNAL MODE

TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which is a safety feature in vehicles designed to monitor the air pressure inside the tires. It alerts the driver if a tire’s pressure drops below a safe level, which can improve safety, fuel efficiency, and the lifespan of the tires.

There are two types of TPMS:

1. Direct TPMS:
   • This system uses sensors mounted inside each tire to directly measure the tire’s air pressure.
   • It sends the pressure data wirelessly to the vehicle’s onboard computer, and the driver is alerted through a warning light on the dashboard if the pressure is low.
2. Indirect TPMS:
   • Instead of measuring the actual pressure, this system uses the vehicle’s ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) or wheel speed sensors to detect if one or more tires are underinflated based on changes in rotational speed.
   • If the system detects an issue, it will alert the driver, but it doesn’t measure the actual pressure.

TPMS became mandatory for new vehicles in many countries, such as the U.S. (from 2007), to help prevent tire blowouts and improve road safety.
